Artist In Residence - Corinda State High School

I have twice worked with the senior students at Corinda State High on mosaic projects. The first time was in 2010 when I helped them to design and complete a large scale outdoor mosaic to mark the school’s 50th anniversary. In 2013 I once again worked with students to help design and create a 25 metre long mosaic on a wall opposite the music block. As none of the students had prevously worked with mosaics these projects were a huge achievement for them, both as individuals and as a group.

I was very impressed by their dedication and commitment as they worked on the mosaics during free periods, after school and even at weekends to get them finished. Their hard work has resulted in two striking and colourful artworks, which have transformed previously uninspiring areas of the school into spaces where other students want to spend time.
