After School Art Classes

After School Art Classes for Kids 2019

Thursday afternoons 3.30 – 4.30 p.m.

New beginner's class starting this term on a Wednesday afternoon 3.30 - 4.30 p.m.

This year I am running classes from a room behind the Sherwood Uniting Church, (on the corner of Sherwood Road and Thallon Street).  It is within walking distance of Sherwood State School and St. Joseph’s and is very close to Sherwood railway station.  There is also convenient car parking directly outside.

Fees for a 10 week term are $250, obviously less if a student starts part way through the term. This includes all materials and equipment, plus a folder to keep artwork in.

I am very proud to present here a small selection of artwork from my very talented students. I initially started with one class but that grew to three classes a week for children in grades 2 to 7. Over the years we have tackled a wide variety of topics and used all kinds of materials.

It is incredibly rewarding to pass on tips and skills to students of all ages and I love it when children go home at the end of a session, really pleased with what they have produced.

Here are some comments about my classes:

The after school art classes have been a great success and the program has
grown because of the high quality of the visual arts lessons that Kim

The murals and mosaics Kim has created, sometimes with the help of our
students, are truly wonderful and create a fantastic feel to different areas
of our school.

My daughter has been one of Kim's art students for the last two years, and she is currently eagerly anticipating the start of this year's lessons.  She looks forward to Kim's classes all week during term, and shows her art portfolio to everyone she can.  Kim is a kind and caring teacher with an excellent relationship with her students.  We're lucky to have access to such a wonderful art class.

What I like as a parent is the classes aren’t too large, it is a relaxed environment, everyone is encouraged to develop at their own pace, your ability to go through the techniques used (I had never heard of hatching and cross hatching in drawing!) and that you do many mediums not just painting or drawing. Highly recommended.

I love the way your art classes provide an opportunity to explore all sorts of different media and how the children enjoy developing skills in a familiar environment.
